An overview of good website design for communicating with alumni, including a brief introduction to using content management systems, techniques for search engine optimisation, tips on writing engaging copy, the advantages of blogging, the benefits of offering RSS and the use of discussion boards and reply forms. The presentation will also outline how using website analysis and statistics to track visitors can be used for continuous improvement.

Data Management & Fundraising Track:
An examination of alternative methods for integrating online and offline data systems and enabling alumni to update the alumni association with changes in contact details as efficiently as possible, including an overview of current data management and fundraising systems such as Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge & NetCommunity and WCBS's WebALUMNUS (formerly supplied by Abattia). The session will also include an introduction to offering and processing online payments, donations and gifts, and insights into the techniques and solutions for selling memorabilia, event tickets and other items online to raise revenue.

We have created two new groups on Facebook which will be of interest to a wide range of ‘alumni practitioners’ such as alumni officers, alumni secretaries, alumni co-ordinators, alumni volunteers, fundraising managers, development directors, IT officers and IT Managers etc in Schools, Colleges and Universities in Europe. (The groups will also be of interest to consultants and companies providing alumni services to further education and higher education institutions.).
