WEB TOOLS
Websites like offer basic but useful and free "Web Tools" which may be helpful to anyone with responsibility for internet marketing for a business or organisation. Web Analytical systems are much more thorough but Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) web tools give a snap shot view of the current situation and provide a bench mark against which you can measure your success as you implement search engine optimisation techniques.
For example, the following SEO tools are available on the www.seochat.com website:
Spider Simulator
Simulates a search engine by displaying the contents of a web page in exactly the way the search engine spider would see it. A lot of content and links displayed on a web page may not actually be visible to the search engines, e.g. Flash based content, content generated through JavaScript, content displayed as images, and so on. Basically anything rendered on the client side may not visible to search engines.
Code To Text Ratio
Assesses the percentage of actual text in a web page.
Indexed Pages
Gives the total link count for each URL - a query of all the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Alta Vista, and AlltheWeb) when you enter the "site:" operator with your chosen URL.
Keyword Density
Search engines use this information to categorise a site's theme, and to determine which terms the site is relevant to. The perfect keyword density will help achieve higher search engine positions.
Link Popularity
Provides a general representation of the total number of web pages which link to a website or individual web page. Most of the major search engines support the "link:" operator. (Go to the Google search box and type in “link:” without the quotation marks in front of the URL about which you want to learn, ie: link:http://www.lineskis.co.uk) This tool will query all the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask) when you enter the “link:” operator with your chosen URL. It will return the total link count for each URL.
Page Rank
Provides a general representation of a website's popularity; it is primarily based on link popularity. Websites with a high PageRank value will tend to have more traffic and higher positions in search engines (although many other factors are also taken into consideration).
Search Engine Keyword Position
Checks the search engine result pages of Google, Yahoo, and MSN to see what position the site holds for a particular keyword phrase.
