Twitter was originally a simple micro-blogging platform. Users would answer the simple question “What are you doing?” in 140 characters or less. These mini-blog posts were nicknamed “Tweets”.
Tweeting is still at the heart of Twitter but the platform has now evolved into a 'real-time social messaging' hub. Instant messaging and email are still dominant methods for communicating between individuals but Twitter wins hands-down when it comes to instantaneous communication with large numbers of people and trend and behavioural analysis.
Whatever made you aware of Twitter - whether the feeding frenzy in the media, its endorsement by Barack Obama, Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross, its use in Iran by political demonstrators, or its misuse by Habitat - it is likely you are intrigued by the phenomenon but unsure how to exploit it for your business, organisation, institution or charity.

Matthew has extensive experience with online marketing across a broad range of platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and Google. Matthew will draw on marketing campaign experience using Twitter and considerable research he and his team have undertaken on the use of the platform by companies and organisations of all sizes.
